“Rescued: Saving Our Pets and Ourselves” will be a hard cover book designed, written, photographed, and published by Paul Brouse at Dog’s Life Studio Pet Photography in Richmond Hill, ON. The book will feature up to 50 rescue pets and their owners through photographs and stories. The stories will highlight how each pet and owner came together and how this new relationship has changed both of their lives. The aim is to celebrate rescue pets and their owners, highlight the need for animal rescue and raise funds for TEAM Dog Rescue - a Toronto-based dog rescue charity.
The cost of the photo session and book combined is $199. All of this money goes to pay for the production of the book and to raise funds for our chosen charity: TEAM Dog Rescue. Dog’s Life Studio Pet Photography does not profit directly from the sale of the book. You may decide to purchase wall or album art for your home as a result of the book photo shoot - but this is completely optional.
The book is a 100 page hardcover coffee table-style book measuring 13 inches wide by 9.5 inches high. It is printed and hand made in Italy and is a superior product made to last a lifetime and beyond. Each pet/owner story will consist of a 2 page spread (spanning 26 inches across and 9.5 inches high) that will include one page of 1-4 photos of the owner and their pet on one side with an accompanying story on the facing page.
All proceeds from the sale of the book go to TEAM Dog Rescue. Straight from their website: “TEAM Dog Rescue is a foster-based, registered Canadian charity (BN: 815687843RR0001) dedicated to helping homeless dogs find their forever homes with a focus on rescuing canines from overcrowded and high-kill shelters. TEAM Dog Rescue is run exclusively by volunteers located throughout Toronto’s GTA and surrounding areas.”
This depends. There are a lot of moving parts in a project like this including finding, vetting, meeting with and photographing upwards of 50 rescue animals and their owners. Not to mention image post-processing, book design, printing and shipping. Rest assured you will receive regular updates as to where we are at in the process, including sneak peeks. Your patience will be appreciated as we work to produce a book to meet your highest standards.
Well, it's your story so I'd like you to write it. If you prefer, I can write it based on interviews and written submissions. Each story should be approximately 500 words and I reserve the right to edit it with you, if necessary, for length. As a participant, you will have final approval on the story. After all, it is your story and all our stories can be very personal.
